The fry Friends were a series of McDonald toys that you could change the outfits on in 1989 & 1990. They had a TV commercial  where a kid uses one of them to steal another kids french fry. They were used in the series of toys and promotional material made with the idea of McDonald land. They also ran another Ad featuring other McDonald Land Characters too.
